about the author (nf; brief, uncredited note)

° - the titles of these ultimate reprint magazines noted were often changed by sol cohen, their editor - publisher, who did not pay for reprinting the stories, claiming amazing & fantastic had always paid for all rights when their former publishers had bought stories, artwork, etc. this was disputed but the point was not, sfaiaa, ever conceded. an agreement was later achieved between sol cohen and the science fiction writers of america, assisted by the good offices of editor ted white, upon the basis, i believe, that all rights were being returned to the works' authors (or their estates) after the next single such reprintings from the date of the agreement.
°° - universal-tandem's numbering of their ''galaxy uk'' and ''if uk'' magazines' editions was decidedly eccentric: go by internal masthead date & vol. - no. (mostly...), which is identical with that of the merkin original editions from upd.
