ppint. 28th Sep 2021		084930013: 3 x 2 + 1 x 3 + 0 x 4 + 0 x 5 + 3 x 6 + 9 x 7 + 4 x 8 + 8 x 9 (+ 0 x 10) = 6+3+0+0+18+35+32+72+0 = 166; 166 ÷ 11=15 r.1, so checksum digit = X (for 10): leisure books' claimed isbn 0-8493-0013-X on this book calculates out o.k. - a fair few leisure books (& other imprints leisure books took over) around the period do not, which indicates they were not acquired legally and officially from an authorised isbn issuing agency, but were fabrications by leisure books; so it is always worth taking the time checking a leisure books group purported isbn checks out - especially one that looks as though it's been created by prepending ''08439'' and a number of zeroes to the catalogue number, after it's been shorn of the letters (and any cover-price-in-cents-in-three-digits). - that a purported isbn's checksum digit calculates out correctly doesn't prove it was legally issued, of course - just that it could have been: it is & was not definitely a leisure books' fabrication.
