#94-178° reissue by warner books, inc. 75 rockfeller plaza, new york ny10019 a warner communications company, the (relatively) new owners of paperback library, inc.'s november 1967 first edition in the fairly loose "thongor" series of sub-burroughsian heroic fantasy adventures.
warner paperback library dropped the "paperback library" during the course of an oddly-convoluted absorption of cbs' popular library (and other publishers), the forced partial/semi-disgorgal of some into a theoretically-independantly run publisher, the sale of some to fawcett books. . .
° - the first two digits originally code indicating merkin cover price

given the opportunity to acquire uk (& roi) distribution for all their catalogue whoseand uk rights were clear, and which they'd been unable to sell to anyone else by the then m-d of hamlyn paperbacks - and be paid for 'em! - they not unnaturally jumped at the chance. covers have merkin & canadadian prices removed, uk price (u.k. 80p in this case) added on the back cover, alongside an "H" in silhouette, and the legend, "warner books are distributed in the united kingdom by hamlyn paperbacks" added at foot of title p.
157pp incl. 4pp titles, 1p prologue: the legend of thongor the barbarian - ex. "the lemurian chronicles" lin carter, & 3pp blank.

ppint. 20th Mar 2022		it seems m-d walter clare didn't bother telling anyone else in hamlyn paperbacks - or, indeed, in the entire hamlyn publishing group - that he'd signed the contract with warner books, inc. to distribute their entire mmpb catalog(ue) - where the yuk-of-gb-&-ni & roi rights were still owned by warner paperback library / warner books: i.e. where they'd failed to sell these rights to anyone else - so; the real cream of their new titles & reprint catalog(ue)... - and then apparently endless cartons of these thousands upon thousands of mass-market paperbacks started turning up at the hamlyn publishing group's warehouse... - *lots* of the then current hamlyn paperbacks stock - and *new* titles just entering the catalogue - had to be remaindered, or at least partially remaindered - and *fast, to make room for the seemingly unending tide of squit, with little or no time at all for minor considerations such as, ''is it still selling?'', or ''haven't we only just published this title?'' - room simply had* to be made for the cubic footage of garbage merkin mmpbs ''incoming''... - **right now**. . .
