Originally published by Pyramid Books # 36 in 1951.

Jewel was an imprint set up by Thorpe & Porter, the largely book and comic distributors based in Leicester (we've all probably seen the T&P sticker on imports of Monarch, Ace, Dell etc). Previously their short-lived imprints in the late 1940's had been Hermitage, Knole Park and Beacon (no relation to the U.S. sleaze publisher), publishing books by Paul Renin, Ben Sarto and the like. Set up in 1953, Jewel reprinted books originally published by Lion, Handi and Pyramid in three seperate issues, all in 1953. The first eight titles are listed above, four westerns and 4 mysteries - the second issue of eight was to have been the same, but it appears only the westerns appeared, and so numbers 9,11,13 and 15 are missing:
10- A. Scott Leslie- Tombstone Trail (originally Pyramid 36)
12- A. Scott Leslie- Arizona Ranger (originally Pyramid 26)
14- A. Scott Leslie- The Stranger in Boots (originally Pyramid 44)
16- Jackson Cole - Thunder Range (originally Pyramid 47)
The third and final issue of 4 titles was un-numbered and included 2 westerns and 2 mysteries:
