carcass of book is glued into a backing strip, which in turn is glued into the card cover; reminiscent of world distributors (manchester) ltd.'s wdl & consul imprint p/bs' construction through 1966.

ppint. 5th May 2018		tony used his new supertablettything and a bit of free(?) data allowance this afternoon to determine that the first cover streamline publications put on their superior books edition bore a cover price of 3/6 on the white circle, and it appeared in 1960 - which fits both the awful cover art (tony laughed in disbelief at how close to their faces they're holding their revolves, squinting down their sights), and the method of construction - and, for that matter, that the printer-binders were caldra house ltd. of hove. he also turned up the colour contrast, which reveals the artist's signature to be "paul" - with the "balloon" of the upper-case "p" stretched along the length of the a & u, and a long tail from the "l". the copy i examined has no indica note of being a reprint, which is strongly suggestive of its being a carcass from the 1960 printing left bound up in the paper backing strip, but without covers, until sometime around 1969-70, when decimilsation of sterling finally was finally firmly scheduled.° ° - some two centuries after it was first intended, by the government of the day. . .
