ppint. 13th Jun 2022		n.b. the children's t.v. puppet series extremely loosely based on the two main characters and inventing totally inappropriate others is dire, and should be avoided at all costs. stills taken from this travesty were used by transworld publishers to adorn their carousel imprint p/bs of katharine tozer's first five (not the sixth iirc) mumfie books in the mid-seventies.



ppint. 2nd Oct 2021		first of the mumfie series of sometimes seriously strange, horror- or nightmare-tinged fantasy novels: not exactly a series, but most do fall into a chronological sequence following the order of publication: #1: ''wanderings of mumfie'' (1935), (this book) #2: ''here comes mumfie'' (1936), q.v. #3: ''mumfie, the admiral'' (1937), q.v. #4: ''mumfie's magic box'' (1938), q.v. #5: ''mumfie's uncle samuel'' (1939), q.v. the unfortunate sixth is set in the war-time real world, it was written as a piece of wartime propaganda!: #6: ''mumfie marches on'' (1942), q.v. it also lacks almost all fantasy content (aside of the initial conceit of mumfie and scarecrow's natures).
