Enya - BiographyIrish musician, singer and composer, full name Eithne ni Bhraonáin (Brennan), often categorized as New Age though she herself disputes the label. Originally a member of Clannad, the pop-folk group made up of members of her family (led by sister Maire), she left the group in the mid-1980s and started out as a film and TV composer for the film The Frog Prince and the BBC documentary series The Celts. Her soundtrack for The Celts made the UK charts and led to her first major success with Watermark and its hit single "Orinoco Flow". She has since recorded many more albums, though she is known for taking several years between releases, and also composed and performed "May it Be", the theme song from The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, which earned Enya a Best Song Oscar nomination. Early in her career Enya was known for recording nearly all instrumentation and all vocals herself, which made live performances of many of her works impossible. She has also used the occasional session musician, however. Enya is considered to be both the singer herself, and a group consiting of the the team of lyricist Roma Ryan and producer Nicky Ryan, who have collaborated with Enya on all of her recording projects to date. As of 2014, Enya is considered one of the biggest-selling recording artists in Irish history. « Back to Discography Edit This Biography : Biography Credits
