Johnny Cash - BiographyAmerican singer (1932-2003) whose career began at Sun Records in the mid-1950s. Initially a rockabilly singer, Cash carved his niche in the country-western, folk, gospel and country-rock fields. Established a successful performing partnership with June Carter (whom he later married) and connected with the Carter Family musical dynasty. For several years, his touring group included not only the Carter Family, but also rockabilly icon Carl Perkins and vocal group The Statler Brothers. Hosted a popular TV series in the late 1960s-early 1970s, and his annual Christmas TV specials became a tradition. Also dabbled in novel-writing and acting. Late in his career, found additional success as a member of the country supergroup, The Highwaymen. Ended his career reimagining his style for a series of edgy and music genre-hopping recordings for American Recordings; he recorded his final songs only a couple of weeks before his death. « Back to Discography Edit This Biography : Biography Credits
