 Bettye LaVette on major label surprise! The first time she's managed that since her Motown LP TELL ME A LIE in 1982, and another surprise is that this one is devoted to one writer, Bob Dylan, and this may even be her best album ever! It's not perfect - producer/drummer Steve Jordan could have employed a lighter touch on some of his drum parts ("It Ain't Me Babe" seems particularly ham-fisted - listen to Roger Hawkins' work with the Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section, Steve), and I'm not quite sure yet what to make of the startling deconstruction and reconstruction of "The Times They Are A-Changin'", but "Mama, You Been On My Mind" is profoundly affecting, and the knee-trembling "Emotionally Yours" is now the definitive version IMHO, so all I can say is "buy it"!

And this is International because the printed sticker from the store I bought it (see last image above) shows "UMA" for Universal Music Australia, plus this appears on the ARIA Report for the week commencing 9th April 2018, viewable at the National Library of Australia's Pandora archive (the 9th being the Monday of that week, but standard Australian release day now, as for the rest of the world, is Friday, so the 13th would have been the actual day, though the digital version came out on the O/S release day of 30th March).
