| | Good pickup, Roger! I've now corrected that Discogs entry to remove the September release date. |

| | Phil ... It looks likely to me that "Quicksand" was added to the "Heatwave" LP when the song crashed into the US BB Top 10.
Don't Forget The Motor City has "Quicksand" being completed on 4th October 1963, a week or two after the "Heatwave" LP had been released (including that entry on Discogs that includes the track!!). The single on Gordy 7025 was released at the beginning of November 1963 and was first listed on the BB Hot 100 in their edition dated 23rd November 1963. The song peaked at #8 on The BB Hot 100, so presumably later pressings of the "Heatwave" LP included "Quicksand" to boost sales.
I've come the conclusion that trying to pin down the exact issue dates and content of these old Motown LPs is like walking on shifting sands so the title of this latest mystery seems very appropriate ......

| | Hi Roger, I just posted on LP world that "Quicksand" was on the 1981 UK reissue of HEAT WAVE, but Discogs has an entry for a US reissue of the original LP with that track, though without any images other than the front cover. This fact seems to have eluded the Don't Forget The Motor City site. |

| | Added images of the CD Disc, the booklet and replica original LP covers.
This is, of course, one of those UK Toofers that combined two original US Motown LPs, in this case
Tracks 1-12: "Come And Get These Memories" (released in June 1963 as Gordy 902) and
Tracks 13-24: "Heatwave" (released in September 1963 as Gordy 907)
With tracks 25-27 being bonus tracks.
However, as the notes point out, "Come And Get These Memories" is presented here in a previously unreleased stereo format and the version of "Quicksand" on here is a stereo version of the single mix. So, is "Quicksand" a bonus track (as the booklet states) or is it part of "Heatwave" (as suggested by the replica LP cover), and was it even included on "Heatwave"??? |

| | Added back of slipcase. I did scan the top and bottom of the slipcase as well, but the height of the images is less than the minimum allowable for this site. I won't scan the label because I replaced it with my own less-boring one, mocked up from an original Gordy 45, so I'll leave it to someone else to upload the proper one (Roger?). |
