After winning music fans over with his 2003 multi-platinum debut Trouble, Senegalese singer Akon returns with more stories from his personal journey via his sophomore CD Konvicted.
Hi Helen, 29th June 2004 seems to be the original US release date of this album - that day was a Tuesday, the usual US release day at the time. However, the Copyright Office Registration shows the "date of publication" as 26th June, which was a Saturday. It's unlikely that a CD would have been released on a weekend, so that was probably a typo by the Copyright Office. The registration does state that two songs were previously registered in 2003, so that's where that year comes from; Amazon and itunes also show the release date as 29th June 2004, as does searching on the barcode at the International ISRC database.
Things get a bit more complicated with the wikipedia entry - whilst also giving the 29th June as the US release date, it also states that other versions of the album were different, with the European version in "late 2004" being "completely altered", with three original album tracks being replaced by remixed versions of those, and the song "I Won't" being replaced by "Easy Road". Wikipedia also states that the original US version was replaced by the European version in 2006, but then the European version was changed too! All in all, a God almighty mess!
BTW, the notes on this entry apply to the next album KONVICTED, and should be removed.
I have put on June 2004 because every I read was this date. The P&C on the cover however is 2003. Delay? Mistake?
Discogs has this Cat# on 2003 as well..
I gave up and entered 2004.. if anyone knows what is what, please hollar!
