This is one of the better "Northern Soul" compilations, put together by DJ Richard Searling from various WEA associated labels.
Mr Searling's tastes seem to veer towards the more sophisticated productions and there are plenty of tracks on here that feature lush strings and things, such as track #3 by David & Ruben ...
The sharp eared might notice that track #2 "Somebody (Somewhere) Needs You" by Ike & Tina Turner uses the same backing track as #6 "Go For Yourself" by Larry Laster , though this isn't relected in the writer credits.
