This label also has a USA arm that uses the same cat#s but different bar codes (phew!) and I have picked up their releases here in Australia. So their stuff gets about but generally through what you would know as "pound shops" so not intentionally distributed internationally would be my assessment.
Anyway, it seems both names are correct and used on different sites to catalogue their products which doesn't help us here and it also appears that they use semi legitimate licensing practises to acquire their recordings. A lot of out of copyright or dubious licenses acquired through the likes of companies like Charly for this Eric Clapton release seem to be the norm. Muddy waters all round.
Hi gents, thanks, it seems that Discogs takes an either or approach to this label...
"
German budget label.
A registered trademark of Delta Music Inc..
Please also consider LaserLight Digital as label, as per logo and label code LC 8259 / LC 08259.
According to official information from the GVL database, the correct label name is Laser Light (with a space).
There also is a label named Laserlight (no space) and Label Code LC 29911 which is owned by Delta Leisure Group Plc Ltd. "
So it appears either is right, so no need for a change, but the third "Laserlight mentioned at the end, with a different label code, also owned by Delta, might cause a bit of confusion down the line, so perhaps "LaserLight Digital" may be worth consideration in that case?
philmh: you may well be right, but do see other laserlight-logoed (??) cds, at least some of which seem to use digital as the/part of label name, and at leaast some of which seem to be connected... -
- ''it's messy.'' (or, at least, ''it looks messy.'')
Hi Greg, looking at the spines, the label name appears to be just LaserLight, and the Digital is just a notation to indicate that the release is a digital recording, or digital master (which all CDs are, by default).
MODS :
Whilst adding this i noticed that all the CD's on the system under "LaserLight" are in fact all "LaserLight Digital", shouldn't the label name be amended to show this?
