philmh: *nods*; but though legally perhaps correct, in the sense you mean, it is productive of chronoclasms and lies, such as asserting that a recording (or a book) was originally published and copyrighted by an entity that did not exist for another few decades - half century - potentially centuries, thanks to the mouse - and confuses and muddies waters, tracks and history. . .

- "eheu, marcus!"

(anyway, i've sent in a correction of my erroneous © to a (p) or, if possible, a p-in-a-circle which tablettything doesn't (p)ossess)

Sorry ppint, somehow I missed your previous post! Anyway, I still think the current © credit is legally correct, as the original copyright transfers to renamed or successor companies. I gave Sony as an example before, another example I can think of is when MCA Records bought ABC Records in 1979 and ABC product was reissued on MCA, the ℗ & © credits changed to MCA Records Inc. In 2002, MCA was folded into Geffen, and credits since then have been for Geffen Records, a division of UMG Recordings, Inc.

philmh: noticed you'd not - so yr hmbl srppnt. now has. . .

Speaking personally, If searching for a Cat# or Barcode or Artist or whatever I always search on those categories and I suspect most other people would do the same, I have never used the "All" option as it always throws up a lot of other different data I really don't want to sift through. But hey, everybody's different

I think it's best to search using the "All" option, and then the catalogue numbers should be picked up whichever field they are entered in. Plus, some box sets are quite large - 25, 50 or even more discs - and I think entering that many catalogue numbers in the catalogue number field is just overkill and looks really untidy, entering them in the notes one under the other makes them much easier to read.

I think listing the individual Cat#'s is a useful addition that would negate the chance of people looking to add these discs as a single entity. If they search for the Cat# it would show up and the disc wouldn't be duplicated unneccesarily.

I wouldn't list them separately, as they weren't released separately, so just one entry for the set will suffice. One thing I would do differently is only enter the set's catalogue number in the catalogue number field, as that is the only number that would be used for ordering, and then enter the individual disc numbers in the notes.

All these CD's have been listed individually when they aren't actually available to buy retail singly. You will notice that none of the entries have barcodes. Should they be here or deleted?. If they stay, do I enter my other 10 Original Album Series discs as individual items as well?

philmh: yr hmbl srppnt.'ll check again before parting with this - i'm currently trying to give it to a (frequently infuriating) friend, as i've replaced it with a copy of the extended cd - 'm pretty sure i copied the information correctly, and checked through it before sending to the 45universe, bicbw.

edit: no, i was wrong, and you are right. (p) 2003 and © 2014 on the disc, and on the rear of the card sleeve it is. and both credited to parlophone records ltd, in the one line.

and i still think that, as it is factually incorrect - parlophone records was one label of emi records ltd. (and of the gramophone company ltd. before that), until the division of emi records ltd. into suitably-sized (and newly-named) pieces prior to umg's divestiture programme - and not even the label upon it was released - it should credit the compilation's original copyright holder, or at least the original label - and then that of this (p)ublication of it, together with its (p) date.

(the repro artwork also gives the (p) 1970 date of the original lp on the rear, but without attributing it to anyone (or any thing).)

- would you care to submit the correction of my mistake - if i do, you won't be credited - even if yr hmbl srppnt. specifically requests you be.

I suspect the (C) 2003 is actually (P) 2003, for the year that the compilation was first published, and then Parlophone Records Ltd. would be correct for the current phonographic copyright owner. That is how I believe such credits are supposed to work in law (though they don't always appear correctly); a parallel from another company is Bob Dylan reissues showing, for example, (P) 1963 Sony Music Entertainment.

the ©2003 parlophone records ltd. is implicitly incorrect: this cd compilation would have been ©2003 emi records ltd, and have been transferred together with emi records ltd. initially to universal music group - and then on as part of the parlophone records group of the reorganised emi records to warner communications, inc. in 2013 as part of the divestiture programme required of universal by the european union's competition regulations: the ©2014 parlophone records ltd. a warner music group company line would be the reliable date for the warner music group's parlophone release..

track 2 is given as listed on the disc; all of it, as well as "may i?", were listed as track 1 on the original lp, on emi records ltd's then-live harvest label SHSP 4005 10/70, with "lunatics lament" track 2 et seq; and from "the oyster and the flying fish" on, all but "shooting at the moon" being side 2 track 1, and "shooting" being numbered side 2 track 2, on the lp back cover. . .

- i think it's probably sensibler to go with the numbering on the cd...
