Thanks JPGR&B I was beginning to think I'd never make people see the point. I'll send you a personal message to tell you it was never personal and go into a bit more detail.
Universal International Music B.V. use, almost exclusively, their plant in the Netherlands and GZ Media (not the best, I know) in the Czech Republic to produce their product. They are sometimes marked as made in the EU (Hilversum) and sometimes as made in the Czech Republic (GZ Media). These plants produce nearly everything that is made under the Universal International Music B.V. banner and the products are ALL intended for a global market.
Now to JPGR&B's comment about whether or not the USA version was made in the Czech Republic. Well, although it is in fact the very same release in every respect there is no actual requirement for it to be so for it to qualify as an international release on 45 Worlds. So the comment is misplaced and backs up my earlier points that "MODS should be alert to the fact that anything ... having Universal International Music B.V. anywhere on the packaging is international" and that "Universal International Music B.V releases are listed inconsistently, mostly incorrectly and the weight of opinion on the site is to continue in this manner"
We need to deal with this by developing a consistent method of entry for these products or we will have a really big mess on our hands. Really BIG!
I see the back of the box states Made in Czech Republic. Is this not therefore a European release, unless sailorsam's copy from the USA states Made in Czech Republic, in which case I agree it is most likely International.
I agree that the official release date is 6 August and therefore this entry should remain as 6 August.
Release dates are such a mess at the moment. I would have someone say they saw the Advert for a Release, either on TV In In the Trade Papers. But In reality these adds were scheduled when times were Normal. Films are the same, some are still on hold Two Years after there Original release Dates, and could even be more than two years before they are shown. Like I said a real mess. By the way I received this on the 1st. H.
That's good MM probably safest to go with the 6th as the official date, would it be a sensible thing to add into notes (for future reference) that it was actually released to the public three days earlier on the 3rd. It's the first time Amazon have ever sent me a pre-order 3 days early. I had thought about making it international before adding but because it had Made In EU all over it that's why I went with Europe. After seeing that sailorsam from the USA had it I thought it probably should be International.
I've changed this to International (As seems any recent Beatles and related item ought to be now), and I've kept the "official" release date of the 6th for it.
Yes, Quad5point1, it seems that anything released by UMe, Universal Music Group (and especially anything coming through Calderstone Productions that owns the Beatles and related artists catalogues) under the banner of Universal International Music B.V. is in fact international.
I have pointed this out many times before but no-one seems to have grasped the concept yet. Ideally, MODS should be alert to the fact that anything made in Hilversum and having Universal International Music B.V. anywhere on the packaging is international.
For some reason many on the site are resistant to this idea. Perhaps because it consigns the whole EU Beatles (and related artists) catalogue to the international catch all category for country and national (or regional in the case of the EU) catalogues will be lost in the process. However, the Rolling Stones, U2 and Abba are also in the same boat since Universal took over PolyGram International Music B.V. in 1999. So there's only about 22 years Universal International Music B.V of releases to sort out on the site. I have had some changed to international by sending in corrections but this often entails a lengthy debates with EU users that request all sorts of proof when all the proof you need is on the packaging. The end result is that Universal International Music B.V releases are listed inconsistently, mostly incorrectly and the weight of opinion on the site is to continue in this manner.
It would appear "officially" to be the 6th but I received my copy on the 3rd and Amazon always say that you will get your pre-ordered copy on the day of release. It's a bit of a confused picture
