A respectable debut from the young (18-going-on-19 at the time) winner of The Voice Australia season 2 (2013), who was coached by Seal. He speaks with a stutter (which he has had since early childhood), but this is not apparent when he sings. The first 9 tracks are studio versions of the songs he performed on The Voice, the last four recorded in the week between the show's finale and the CD release. A few misfires - I've never liked David Gates or Bread, Ne-Yo's "Unconditional" is a bit of a nothing (but at least it varies the tempo on this ballad-heavy collection, as does "It Had Better Be Tonight"), and for Universal to get the title of Stevie Wonder's "All In Love Is Fair" wrong when they own Stevie's catalogue is pretty poor - but this spent a few weeks at #1 and scored a platinum certification (70000), and "Unchained Melody" (partly based on the "Bobby Righteous" version) was a #2 single which went gold (35000). Second album, "L-O-V-E" (title song is the Nat "King" Cole hit) is due out in Australia on 11th April. This lad has great potential.
It might be my computer, but the scans look a bit bluer than they should, and there's a bit of banding which I don't seem to be able to get rid of, so if anyone wants to have a go at improving the images, go ahead!
