| PhilMH 6th Jul 2022 | 1990 release was on 25th September 1990 according to the US Copyright Office (apparently put back a week from the 18th September notified in Schwann), distributed by MCA, catalogue number MOTD-6298. Subsequent reissues don't (or rather, shouldn't) change the copyright year, unless there is new musical, textual, or pictorial material, but release year for this version distributed by PolyGram would be 1991 or 1992, unless this site is happy to accept 3746362982 as a variant of MOTD-6298. | |

I worked in a recordstore at the time and people went crazy LOL! But like it was said before, the year is on the backcover and disc. | |

| PhilMH 22nd Feb 2019 | No way is this a 2009 release. Motown catalogue numbers starting with 37463 came into use in late 1991, with the label's move to PolyGram distribution, and were only in use during 1991 and 1992, before the label adopted the international 530 ***-* style of numbering (though reformatted in the USA to 31453-0***-*). Plus, Motown Record Company, L.P. was dissolved in November 2000, following PolyGram's purchase by Universal Music Group in 1998/1999, and the company name appearing thereafter (and still being used now) is Motown Records, A Division Of UMG Recordings, Inc. Universal's US CD numbering from sometime in the 2000's (certainly well before 2009) has been in the format B00xxxxx-02. Whether Universal are still repressing older titles with the older catalogue numbers and not updating the legal information on the packages or discs is another matter, and would only be of concern to Discogs, who assign different release dates to repressings, but not this site, which is only interested in the first release date for each particular combination of label, catalogue number, and bar code; so, 1991 or 1992 would be the applicable year for this. | |
