This looks like the UK version on Epic. I can't read the writing on the disc, but I suspect it is MCPS/Biem. The European version has the same bar code and cat. no., but is on the Columbia label (with SACEM / SDRM / SACD / SGDL / BIEM).
The Canadian release uses a similar catalog number to the U.S. it's on Columbia
whereas the U.S. is on Sony "550 Music / Epic" Canadian number, CK 68861..
U.S... BK 68861
- my copy is as per this, except: bears an english language-only black sticker (with white text) front near-topmost left on jewel-case front reading "16 brand new tracks/featuring/"tell him"/(duet with barbra streisand)/"the reason"/"my heart will go on"/(theme from the forthcoming film, "titanic")/+/a host of special guests including/carole king, the bee gees/and a duet with luciano pavarotti/31-48959-10"; near the end of the arc of rubric on the outer edge (almost) of the disc obverse is stated "made in austria 489159 2 31 489159 10"; on reverse of the disc the matrix-equivalent no. is "50148915910-0101" followed by "(large gap) 142 (gap) (surface-impressed:) G1"
- from all of which i deduce that this is the yeurppean release...°
° - any canadadadian release would've borne at least the back printed-paper insert & disc obverse rubric in french as well as english - surely?
those aren't Sony Canada markings... copyrights are to Sony Music Entertainment (Canada) Inc.
and that is confusing you. Note that info follows the (C) or (P) and year.
That is on all of her CD's. Canadian CBS Group Labels catalog numbers don't use 6-digits followed by a 2. That is Europe. The Canadian disc number resembles the U.S. number in most cases. Check out the Canadian pages for releases from Columbia or CBS and Epic...
you'll see what I mean... there are NO releases using the number sequence. Then check out the Labels on the Europe and UK pages and you'll see what you submitted more than likely belongs there.
Added front, back, inlay and disc scans of my copy which matches the barcode and cat no's already listed here.
The disc states made in EU but both the disc and the back cover are covered in Sony Canada markings.
As I know nothing of this minefield, I'll leave it up to better qualified peeps to sort it out.
doesn't look like a Canadian CD... the catalog number certainly isn't... looks more like Europe to me. Canada follows the U.S. catalog numbers... had letter prefixes in 1997.
If your CD has LC: anywhere.. it's definitely not Canadian.. as Europe used Label Codes.
