Copy of the correction that was sent. "After much debate and to-ing and fro-ing we have come to that conclusion that there are two releases here my original Australian release which needs the country changed to Australia on this page. Then Bodston's copy which needs to have a separate UK entry made for it. Cheers, Lee."

Alright I'll send a correction but plenty of Spectrum releases were issued with macthing labels, cat#s and barcodes in Australia and the UK only from what I've seen on the net. The European tag for the UK release came from Discogs when I was looking it up Roger and seems to have stuck around. Anyway a Spectrum release of a Shangri-Las comp that I listed as Australian on the site https://www.45worlds.com/cdalbum/cd/5527642 definitely has a UK doppleganger which can be found @ http://www.discogs.com/Shangri-Las-The-Best-Of-The-Shangri-Las/release/3407604 but I'm giving the research a swerve and going by what's on the tin from now on. Consider this one finalised, Pheweee!

Yes folks .. my "U.K." copy does match Bodston's scans and does not have the preceding "0" in the barcode (something I did point out in my comment/post of 23rd January).

I'm still not sure why some people deem my "U.K." copy (the one with the preceding "0" in the barcode) to be a "European" issue as from Bodston's scan it can be seen that the only territory that gets a mention for marketing and distribution is The UK. To qualify it as a "European" issue I would expect to see some mention of somewhere else (most likely France or Germany). But then is there any consensus about what qualifies something as a "European" release anyway?

@Lee.I think the wires have got crossed somewhere along the line here;).I can only find an Australian release (with "0"prefix) and a European release (without "0" prefix) online, and so i've asked Roger if he wouldn't mind checking his CD again (if he can find it again;),to see if it matches Bodston's scans as i believe it might be the same. You see don't i;).
(Addenda : Roger,it could be simply of course that no one has put a UK one online,in which case i'm sorry to have bothered you.)

Greg, I agree that Bodston's addition of the European listing should be a separate entry but Roger says his UK copy "does have a preceding 0". So I'm inclined to keep this as an International listing rather than change it to Australia as the UK Spectrum release is a match. I have two Spectrum releases that are perfect matches between the UK and Australia I entered the "The Best Of The Shangri-Las" @ https://www.45worlds.com/cdalbum/cd/5527642 yesterday. Strangely, though to try and avoid being the "unpopular one" again I just listed it as Australian and labeled the CD and inlay as Australian in readiness for Internationalization at a later date. From my perspective this seems to be a a less controversial and easier approach to entering CD's although it does leave work to do for the MODS at a later date. It is weird that both approaches are technically wrong and right on the site - so I'm just trying to weave down the path of least resistance at the moment.

Um,at the risk of being the "unpopular one" again :),the European CD has a different barcode and so should have it's own separate entry under "Europe",the issue with the "0"prefix,is a stand-alone Australian release, and so should be changed to "Australia".

And in the midst of the discussion about country of release the funk just keeps on and on and on and on ..............

My feeling now that Roger has checked his copy and confirmed the UK release has the same label, release date, barcode and cat# is to leave this as International.

My bad Lee .. my "UK" copy does have a preceding 0.

Okay, I've sent a correction now, so that's this one sorted. If weren't for the site rules I would have entered as Australian first up rather than wasting time looking for matches all over the world. Never mind.

Hmmm .. that "European" release at Discogs is my "UK" release.

Gregs78s ... If I were entering my Parliaments CD here I would put it as "UK" rather than "Europe" on the basis that all the blurb refers to marketing and distribution within The UK with no mention of anywhere else. Complicated isn't it!!

Well spotted Greg but the UK release has the same barcode and cat# according to Roger.

This has a 13 digit barcode, wheras the European release only has a 12 digit barcode :
0731454426121 against 731454426121,here so technically they should be entered separately, this release under "Australian",and the other under "Europe".

Roger, Check it out here http://www.discogs.com/Parliament-Get-Funked-Up-The-Ultimate-Collection/release/553408 if you want to have a look. It is more like my copy than yours I think from your description. No I just checked and I think it the same as yours but says Made In The EU but the spines are identical to mine. I thought that same cat# and barcode was enough for an International release but now it seems secondary cats and LC's are involved as well. Oh, it will all come out in the wash somehow.

I have the "UK" release Lee, same barcode, same(ish) Cat# .. it has "LC5064" on the CD Disc after the Cat# of "544 261-2" with a space between the two character strings. On the Inlay/Back-Cover the catalogue number is shown as "544 261-2 LC5064 UN506"!!

There is also blurb on the CD Disc and on the inlay/back-cover stating it is "Marketed and distributed in the UK by Spectrum Music" (instead of the mention of Australasia of course) whereas it looks like the "Australasian" version only has this on the inlay/back-cover.

It would be interesting to know what wording differences there are on the "European" version you know about.

If/when I enter my version on here I'm tempted to add images to this "International" version and people can play "spot the difference" between your images and mine ... LOL.

This Australian edition and the European release have the same release date label, cat# and barcode.
