ReviewThis is essentially an expanded version of Tammi's 1969 LP "Irresistible", issued on Motown 652 in The States and in the UK as Tamla-Motown (S)TML 11103, as the first 11 tracks exactly mirror that release.
The last 7 tracks consist of six that were overlooked for release in the 1960s and her 1967 breakthrough duet hit with Marvin Gaye "Ain't No Mountain High Enough", most of the vaulted tracks had already been included on CD releases previously but Tracks 16 and 17 were making their debut on this collection.
The CD's "Essential" status began to be eroded a year after its release when her rather splendid version of "All I Do (Is Think About You)" was discovered and released on The Cellarful of Motown compilation and "Essential" status was finally lost in 2010 when Hip-O Select released a 2 CD anthology of Miss Terrell's recordings for Motown and Scepter/Wand that included all the tracks on this CD as well as other vaulted Motown material that had been uncovered in the intervening 9 years.
Musically it is typical mid/late 1960's Motown material. Apart from the duet with Marvin Gaye the tracks on here didn't do too much sales-wise on first release but IMHO much of it seems to have improved with time .. notably her slinky "What A Good Man He Is" ..
