ReviewThis bizarrely named compilation (and its 5 subsequent volumes) is named after the curious custom adopted by some of the more serious dancers at "Northern Soul" venues of sprinkling talcum powder on the floor around where they are intending to dance. The purpose of this is reputedly to "aid the dancing", though it is not generally encouraged by the owners of the venues.
Anyway, with that in mind we have a series of surprisingly good compilations of 1960s material aimed at "Northern Soul" fans, from a selection of EMI owned/distributed labels ... Capitol/Liberty/Calla/Money/Dynavoice/Sue etc. etc. Some tracks are widely known, others are more obscure .. such as this 1965 recording by Marjorie Black ...
