Lee Wrecker 13th Nov 2018		As far as I know this CD was only released in Australia and the EU with neither version being sold in both markets. Hardly international is it? It reminds of this Buzzcocks CD that I listed initially entered as international thinking I was getting the hang of it and using this as evidence but the MODS changed it to an Australian release. Does the same logic not apply in this case? Obviously not but the question is why do we have two systems of entry for CDs that are the complete opposite of each other? This is a no win situation for those trying enter CDs and I have plenty of examples in my collection where similar inconsistencies are apparent. Sometimes you lose and other times you lose after you change tack and think your doing the right thing. It's very frustrating and has sent many a CD catter packing after encountering the international conundrum.



ppint. 28th Aug 2017		lee: yr hmbl srppnt.'s quite happy leaving the one "cdworld" entry for this as "international", while any better system for the different issues of most musucmegacorpses' cds (& late lps) is hatched: the thought was, to have here what cdworlders've actually seen on their copies in the wild, in which parts of the wild, to make it a smop splitting the two of 'em up in whatever way is decided upon - if indeed the two are split, once the new system's introduced.

PhilMH 27th Aug 2017		The back insert of this also shows German label code (LC0316), French distribution code (BM270), and European rights societies (BIEM/GEMA) for good measure; maybe someone at BMG in Oz didn't know what these meant, and didn't think to remove them from the artwork!



Lee Wrecker 26th Aug 2017		Hi ppint, This I believe was only released in the EU and Australia and nowhere else according to this list. So technically according to our current guidelines you are right that this should be international. However, you're also right in that this is probably not a satisfactory way to list these two issues. The two versions are clearly made for separate jurisdictions and not intended to be sold in both markets. Just goes to show how preposterous the current guidelines are really. Remember the European Lou Reed "Transformer" crisis of 1998 when stocks of the CD were so scarce that BMG had to enlist Eurovision ally Australia to gear up production of the CD for the ravenous EU market. No? Neither can I. Apparently, a solution from the MODS is "coming soon" to CD Albums and we may be best to park this in the kennel with the other international sleeping dogs until we see what that may be.



ppint. 26th Aug 2017		i have this, bought new in the uk in 2001, when it became an excess-stock clearance item or remainder cheap enough to forget^W ignore the fact that i'd bought the lp full-price when it was originally released. it had previously been distributed in the uk & the rest of yeurrp at full price (- yr hmbl srppnt.'s unaware of whether they also saw the remainder/partial remainder at £2.99 or equivalent thereof in the rest of yeurrp). i think this means it gets re-flagged as "international", which isn't entirely satisfactory, but in the world of musicbusinessmegacorpses translates as "distributed throughout the eu, optionally including the yuk-of-gb-and-norn-iron and the republic of ireland, and at least one of the other historic/remaining groups of countries/territories regarded as separate markets, e.g. australia, but excluding merkia and optionally (usually) canadada" - so "international" is at least shorter! edit, 11.30pm: the matrix-equivalent is only readable in mirror-writing on the reverse: DISCTRONICS 74321601812 02 (and what looks like an ifpi number stamped? in, but it's too small for yr hmbl srppnt. to read) (and something else indecipherable in really tiny underneath the DISCTRONICS) on the obverse, there is no perimeter text: above the biem/gema there is fine print "all trademarks and logos are protected. rca is a registered trademark of general electric company, usa. distributed by the local bmg company. a unit of bmg entertainment made in the eu".
