Magic Marmalade 22nd Aug 2017		Also just occurred to me that the Drum pattern which Garbage's: "Stupid Girl" is very reminiscent of also opens The Clash's: Train In Vain. Coincidence? (who stole from / was inspired by who?)



Lee Wrecker 21st Aug 2017		Well Magic, this is their best album by far and the follow up "Adventure" was as good in patches but was not as consistent throughout. "Friction" has always been my favourite Television song and the whole first side is top notch. Side two (I'm an LP guy) changes the mood down a bit but is still all good and "Prove It" is another classic single from the album besides the almighty title track. If you're feeling a bit daring seek out "Adventure" it was a bit of a disappointment at the time but probably sounds better in hindsight. Now that I'm talking about it I wish I hadn't let it go all those years ago. It's hard to get on LP here in Australia these days. More of an angsty tight prog band than punk I'd say but I don't think that's a genre



Magic Marmalade 21st Aug 2017		Review Another one on my "To be investigated" list... ... In that it's one (band too) that I'd always been aware of, and seen the cover and heard the reputation of the band and this album over the years, but never got around to hearing. I think the impression I had that it was "punk" tended to push it down my list of priorities, but I think that the term doesn't really apply that much, as this is much better than that. More subtle, understated, tuneful, and melodic... more thoughtfully constructed too, this actually sounds less dated, fresher, and free from it's time than anything else of it's era... In fact it sounds like it could have been released almost anytime in the last ten to twenty years, which may be a signal of it's accumulated influence on modern music, and that many more recent bands have been influenced by this than other bands of the time, in reality; Albeit they get more credit. The drums which open the one of these tracks bears more than a passing resemblance to the those which open "Stupid Girl", by Garbage... and the vocal style must surely have influenced the lead singer of Clap You Hands, Say Yeah! If you like indie or rock from these last ten and twenty years, chances are, you'll love this. vinylpassion 18th Jul 2014		The title track has a proper ending unlike the vinyl which has a fade. I saw them in Birmingham on their first uk tour, an unknown Blondie as support.
