Lee Wrecker 12th Aug 2018
| | Two site users in Australia have this very same issue. "Australian release on 29th June 1992" according to PhilMH. International??? Hmm... I might do James Brown tomorrow for more of the same shenanigans. I haven't sent corrections because I feel it will be a futile experience involving a lot of needless flack from the northern hemisphere. When the facts and evidence is in we do nothing about it except ignore it. These issues were pointed out two and half years ago on these Otis releases and so far all we've done is look the other way.
The "bang 'em in and they'll sort themselves out" mantra is a total cop out and these Otis CDs are definitive proof of that. Nothing has been sorted out and evidence that doesn't sit well is completely disregarded. Anything other than empty promises on the horizon ADMINS/MODS? |

| | @Lee Wrecker.I understand your frustration Lee,as you know it has been discussed many times before and i'm sure it will be discussed many times in the future, but at the moment, while we wait eagerly to see what develops,i just try to add the one country at the mo,thereby avoiding the International debate if i can:) |

Lee Wrecker 15th Jun 2017
| | Hey, gregs78s this is my entry and it was on sale at regular, well slightly less, price but I listed it this way as this is my personal preference and of course I had no real proof at the time that it was the Australian release. Phil noted that it was also in fact an official Australian release as well over a year and a half ago but I haven't sent a correction because I'm not so fond of the idea, as you're probably aware, of CDs losing their identity in the international category.
In my view it's the job of the MODS to sort these finer details out and keep the site consistent as the complexities of CD releases are way beyond the realm of a small-time collector like me. Well, perhaps not after all the grief, frustration and learning that went into entering my collection here. I only own about 800 CDs but at least half of them would be in the same category as this one with three options for the country of release. It can be quite a daunting prospect for the site user when the first question you face has three possible correct answers. I know, I know wait and see what happens... |

gregs45s SUBS 15th Jun 2017
| | @Lee Wrecker.I'm not sure Lee,perhaps because the 5 CD box set was also available in Brazil ?(using the same C/L/B)
(With regards to the magazines,i wasn't aware that they used the same barcode in different countries,in that case then they would be International i suppose;) |

| | Here's another one gregs78s that's in the same boat as "Otis Redding: The Dock Of The Bay: The Definitive Collection". Cat#s differ between this edition and the box set version and why are the box sets international and these individual CDs not? Phil has provided the Australian release date on this one (once again my actual copy).
In regard to the magazines Mojo and Uncut they seem to have a barcode for the UK and a different barcode for the rest of the world. However, sometimes rest of the world copies have the same barcode as the UK editions. It's a very messy affair that defies logic or consistency but once again falls into some cracks in our system here. I, like you, are waiting on direction from the MODS on these issues and hope something a bit more workable is soon upon us. |

PhilMH 28th Jan 2016
| | Australian release on 29th June 1992. My copy still has the $19.95 price tag on it - that's what mid-price reissues were selling for back then, nowadays that seems to be the price of most full-price new issues! |
