 Tried the new Czur scanner and the results were much worse. The scans already here I think are about as good as it's gonna get

 I wonder if just adding an extra piece of glass might be enough to soften the red?

... Just a little extra refraction to the shorter wavelength might pull that down a bit?

 My new scanner I bought for doing larger than A3 scans was packed away for Christmas. When I get that set up again I'll give it another go as it really is a camera rather than a scanner.

 I think the problem with the disc scans is because of the dreaded colour red.

I see the title / logo on disc is big enough to be nicely rendered, sharp, and in focus, it's just the fiddly black text that gets photo- squished... so not so much an issue with the general focus of the scan, just the colour bleed in certain areas.

(I'm not sure if we have a photographer / photography type person around who could advise as to whether there's a way to filter it, so it doesn't bleed over other colours, but I think you are probably better off with a photo than a scan for images with reds (?) but this seems to be a perennial problem on site with harsh colours, especially red!)
