@ gregs45s: OK, well it is the only RSO to be added as, Germany... I've added several RSO's and made them all Europe. Same is true for the Polydor's.. pressed in Hanover, but not necessarily Germany.

@PhilMH: the U.S. had no plants in the early going... first was DADC in Terre Haute, IN... and they started with CBS label pressings.. not necessarily all for the U.S.A.

Indeed this same package may well have been issue in Australia as well, they might have allocated a slightly different Cat.No.to differentiate (or not,as the case may be;)
Perhaps it should be noted that although as you point out the US used Japanese and/or German pressed Discs in the early eighties, before they could manufacture their own,
they tended to (in the main) do their own artwork at least,or sometimes copying the original (with only slight differences),but having "Printed In The USA"on it somewhere, and,as you say,put them in longboxes or blister packs.Sometimes,of course they may have just used the stock European release with no changes,so it's difficult to tell with the first releases. They are often allocated a slightly different Cat.No.
(PS I've had a look for the US release and it look like it wasn't until 1986 that the US made their own Discs, and so they may have just imported the European release in this case, until '86,although,un/typically,it appears that they just used European artwork here, complete with French retail price code!, (although Polydor) but with USA made Discs,ho-hum;)

A CD this early would most likely have been International; certainly the first PolyGram CD's that were released in Australia in 1983 were the German pressings. I'm not sure that even the USA had CD factories at this stage (Germany and Japan being the main - only? - manufacturers), so they probably got German or Japanese imports and put them into longboxes or blister packs.

Indeed this was probably issued in UK/Europe,but,as it is a fairly early release,it does not have the French retail price codes (BA 892,POL 500 etc.),which are common on the later releases, and,as such,i cannot prove that it was issued throughout Europe and maybe in the UK,that's why most early CD releases are under Germany, until someone comes along who has worked in CD distribution, who can give us the lowdown on which indicator's to look for etc.

Curious to why this would be Germany? This was pressed in Germany, but is probably Europe.

Discogs has this copy as "date unknown",the first release using this Cat.No. was 1983.I haven't scanned the Discs as my scanner has developed a tram-line (got to get a new one),which is particularly noticeable on the silvered Discs, which this copy has,so hopefully, someone else will do the honours.(May the force be with you ;)
