The main problem @Helbic is that no products are identified as international and this why inventing the category in the first place was a mistake. Like you I am also just someone that loves music and really don't care where it comes from and believe that making things like this international actually strips them of there real identity. Unfortunately though the guidelines for entering CDs on this site would classify this as international. I know you can't know that when entering a CD but that is only part of the problem. The other part is no-one really checks each CD for this when they go in so the MODS are not really working to the guidelines either. And why should they? They are kind enough to volunteer their time for free and actually finding out if a CD is in fact international is a very time consuming and difficult task.
So we're left with this system of "bang 'em in and they'll sort themselves out" but that also hasn't turned out to be ideal. For instance I'm wasting my time writing this stupid explanation when I could be looking at interesting things on the site instead of defending the guidelines I vociferously protested about many years ago. The main thing though HelBic is not to take it personally and carry on in any manner you see fit. Everyone else does, I just sometimes like to point when the guidelines aren't being followed to show how ridiculous they really are. My personal preference would be that this series be listed as from the EU but what I think counts for nought. Have a nice day and carry on regardless.
The main problem@LeeWrecker is that the product itself doesn't state whether it's European, UK or International. Not being an expert, simply someone who loves the music and the collection I tend to err on the side of caution and list them as Europe unless it's explicit.
I added a CD just yesterday which had the same barcode as one already on the site, but it didn't have a catalogue number and the existing CD was listed as USA? Which obviously mine wasn't. So I added mine and listed it as Europe but again, it could easily have been a UK only CD.
All of these "Original Album Series" are international. All of them are available in Australia and most likely everywhere else in this EU manufactured form. The Sony (Columbia, CBS), RCA, Rhino, Atlantic, Atco, Elektra and anything else owned by Warner are all international. It has been the norm on the site for at least four years to list these releases as international. However, I don't think that's a good fit cataloging and site management wise as I see that product will lose its identity and be prone to duplicate entries.
