gregs45s SUBS 25th May 2018
| | @rocket666.
No worries, always pleased to help if i can.
CD's are probably one of the most complicated formats when it comes to re-issues,as,unfortunately,they tend to re-use the same Cat.No's/barcodes,so it's harder for us to differentiate between releases, and thereby, harder to date specific releases.
It has been my experience that manufacturers will,re-issue a CD,on average, every 2-5 years, providing of course it is a good seller, and if the artist has a big following or not (like Elton John/Bowie etc) and it is common that they will use the same Cat.No./barcode for re-issues (no matter how many;),between the first releases in the early 80's till about the late 90's,when longer European Cat.No's (often mirroring the barcode) seem to have come in,and are used in the main today. |

| | Thanks gregs, appreciate comments and that this site is all about information; the more the better. Accuracy can only be distilled down to a limited degree at such a distance from the original, well shrouded events.
I do agree this, and any CD, can be repressed any number of times with tiny variations, (in the same way 7" singles have numerous versions with one cat. no.).
It is always a different cat. no. that makes a different (RE-) ISSUE.
See the near complete multiple reissue programmes of Van Morrison, David Bowie, and probably the richest man in pop - and my favourite act (see my collection), ELTON JOHN. |

gregs45s SUBS 23rd May 2018
| | @rocket666.
Hi,Discogs has the original US issue (1984,Same Cat.No/barcode (hence International),then a European release (date unknown),then 7 other variations (German/European,date unknown),all listed as re-presses,of which ,my one (pressed by PMDC France),is one.So i think there may have been a few re-presses,for later demand,by the looks of it. |

| | According to Music Master 1996 (2 Vol Hardback) this is indeed the SEP 1984 original. (LP partner on POLH 11).
Mid-price LP reissue JUN 1987 on SPELP 106!!
No CD reissue listed so perhaps there were enough copies of this one to meet demand.... |
