OK... So I'm not exactly an East 17 fan, but I had to buy this when I found it in the charity shop the other day, as it is a very curious, and interesting item...
... As per my pic, it states: "Special Edition Moving Image CD", which brings me to point number one:
There is no moving image on the CD itself, but the cover is the "Moving image" part, but this is not your average lenticular / "holographic" image... no, no, no... this far more bizarre, and to my mind, unnecessarily complicated a construction (point number two):
Even the slide in cover booklet itself is not the holographic or lenticular component, that is just a straight up fuzzy 2D image...
...Here, the "Lenticulation" is done by a tailor made clear lenticulated jewel case, which acts as a lens through which to view the fuzzy cover image, and so obscure certain aspects of it while showing others, depending on which angle viewed from... giving it that "moving image" effect.
So rather than just do what others have always done to create a holographic image since time immerorial-ish, and incorporate the lenticular construction into the image card itself, they've designed a purpose made jewel case separate from the image.
It has a "Patents Pending" wording embossed in the opening lip of the case (see pic), and must be unique to this item / issue / album.
Never come across this before, and who would think to do it this way?
