Thirty-six years after the original Hot August Night from Los Angeles' Greek Theatre in 1972, Neil Diamond returns with a welcome encore. Hot August Night/NYC captures the highlights from Diamond's critically acclaimed, sold-out "World Tour '08-'09". Recorded August 2008 during the run of his four sold-out shows at New York's Madison Square Garden, the CD shows why Neil Diamond's World Tour '08-'09 was hailed as the Hottest Summer Tour by USA Today with 100% attendance.
The New York Times dubbed him "The Marathon Man of Pop" and this CD captures it all from start to finish, beginning with Neil's grouip huddle behind-the-scenes into the opening strains of set-opener "Holly Holly", to the last of his tremendous band filing off-stage and waving to the crowd after the rousing gospel climax of "Brother Love's Traveling Salvation Show." More than a rock concert, it's a veritable revival meeting for all races and creeds of evert age, with Diamond doing the preaching and the healing.
