20pp booklet and fifty tracks from the soul label Warner Bros. hired Bob Krasnow to set up for them in 1964, replacing him with Russ Regan when Krasnow departed for Kama Sutra records in 1966 - and then didn't bother to replace him, leaving an always under-financed and now leaderless label to fade, and then be reabsorbed by its parent label - and a patchily brilliant, patchily puzzling record of releases including some all-time soul classics.

RogerFoster 16th Nov 2015		Added images to this. I'd go along with the comments made in the notes here. This collection has a broad selection of what was happening in R&B/Soul in the 1964-68 period with Motown styled dancers, searing Soul ballads and the occasional clunker sitting side by side. For me the most pleasant surprise on here was the obscure James Brown production hidden in the middle of Disc 1 by Baby Lloyd .... Just one gripe about the packaging .. to find the full track list it is necessary to take out the booklet, and as I've played my copy of this A LOT over the years it is now starting to look rather dog-eared .. as can be seen in my image of the cover (#888872).
