Amy Winehouse, Felix Howard, Paul Watson, Luke Smith, Gordon Williams, Earl "Chinna" Smith, Wilburn Squiddley Cole, Delroy 'Chris' Cooper, Donovan Jackson
Comparing the two, stock edition and special edition,i can't see any differences either (although i might have missed something of course)
At first i thought it might be the "hidden" tracks, but both the stock release and the special edition both have them, and so am none the wiser.
Perhaps the "hidden" tracks were only intended for the special edition, but, actually, made it onto both releases?
I'll put in a correction to amend the track listing here as...
Track 2b Cherry, is noted in the lyrics and credits sections, but not shown in the track-listing (see pg 4 of the booklet).
Track 6b Teo's Licks ( see page 14 of the booklet) an instrumental track, is noted in the credits sections, but not shown in the track-listing. It is listed before 6a Moody's Mood For Love in the credits, though it comes immediately afterwards.
Track 13a Amy Amy Amy and 13b Outro are listed separately in the track-listing but form part of the same track. After Outro, two hidden tracks not mentioned anywhere on the release, 13c Brother and 13d Mr. Magic (Through The Smoke), begin at 5:08 and 9:21 respectively.
Not too sure what's particularly Special Edition with this, except the stickered advert for the first three singles, that indicates this CD must be a repress from at least 6 months after the initial release. My copy bought at time of release doesn't have the sticker.
The album that announced the arrival of a certain Ms Winehouse.
Much jazzier than her later work (indeed on the sleeve notes she name checks a whole host of jazz legends in the "Thank You" section), it may have been overshadowed by the stratospheric success of second album "Back To Black" but make no mistakes, this album is as good a debut as you're likely to hear. Still sounds great today.
