 A note on orthography: the surname Valdez is written without an accent on the e in Spanish. A variation, Valdés, does require an accent. Some Chayito Valdez recordings have appeared with the incorrect orthography, and this appears to be an affectation of the artist's choosing. Her Wikipedia article, and recent recordings, show the correct orthography. Over time, the correct form will probably predominate, and the correct form is chosen for entry here.
