Standard (album) CD case with dark grey tray
2-way fold-out
The original release of CCD 1296 had no barcodes,the barcode was added later in the middle of production (date unknown)
@musicmasters
Hi,it sounds like you have a copy of the first issue,without barcode.
Does it resemble this one?
(click on the thumbnail to see more images),if so.it's down as 1983 and it would be great if you could add a new entry for it,and add some scans so we could see it.
cheers
I reckon my copy is even earlier - UK issued with same cat. no. - no bar code and says "Made In West Germany by PDO" ... possibly the first issue on cd? - I believe it dates to around 1985?
Lee/Greg - regarding the linking of releases I have lifted this from 45cat where the option was first introduced:
It's now possible to link records which are regarded as being the same release. We see this being used for when a record is released in different countries, where a record is issued in different formats, or for where a record is reissued with identical tracks. By linking the records you get to see all the issues on one page.
........Finally, remember that records should only be linked if they are regarded as being different issues of the same release!
So I would say that each time an album is released, even with a slight variation of (bonus) tracks then they can be linked.
Hi Lee (sorry,only just seen this comment).To be honest,i'm not 100% sure,i think by the looks of it,it's exact copies of each album that are being linked?,you'd have to ask the Mod's to make sure,although i believe there is an argument for linking all variations of an album that uses the same title,most re-issue CD's as you know,have extra bonus tracks/alternate takes etc etc,and even one's that have an additional Disc of material or a DVD perhaps should be linked as well?,there will of course be "grey" areas,this CD album i've recently uploaded for instance,is not a straight re-issue of the original album,even though it uses the same title/artwork,it instead,has dropped two tracks,and added three tracks that were recorded in that particular recording session.Another one i can think of off-hand is Janis Joplin's Pearl,i've seen a CD album around that has just two or three tracks from Pearl on it!,there's just multiple takes of those two tracks from the original studio session,however,i personally still think even one's like that should be linked.I think situations like that are probably in the minority though,and perhaps linking all with the same title would work,perhaps the proviso might be something like "Reissue album's may be linked if they contain at least one track from the original album"?;) who knows?,one for the Mod's methinks;)
Hi Greg, I've linked this copy of Vienna to my copy below. However, I'm a little concerned that the tracklist on mine contains 4 bonus tracks and a video. I suppose my question is while they are definitely versions of the same album do the extras (songs and video) make it technically a different album as the tracklists don't match. My real question is should I have linked the releases or not?? Any advice appreciated.
