Well, I would say that because of the catalogue number appearing in Platterlog in August 1988 (and I received the catalogue then - it was on subscription, with weekly updates and a main catalogue each quarter), it can't be any later than that, and if there's no barcode, probably a bit earlier still - CBS had introduced barcodes before the sale to Sony, as on my original CD of Marvin Gaye's MIDNIGHT LOVE, and I can't recall seeing any post-1990 Columbia release without a barcode . Sony certainly couldn't have put CBS on anything after 1990, as they no longer had the rights to that name. I suspect that Musicbrainz and others must have picked the date up from Discogs and/or Great Rock Discography.
You may want to reconsider that one Phil,i too queried the date on Discogs because of the CBS to Columbia change in 1991,so did a quick search via Gurgle, and found that (all) sites have this as '92,inc MusicBrainz here (4th one down),so to be honest, and because of the lack of barcode,i went with the majority online (as i don't have many catalogues),but am happy if you can find a good source for an alternate date.
Hi Greg, this catalogue number was issued well before 1992, because it appears in the Platterlog catalogue in Australia as an import in 1988. Furthermore, the CBS label became Columbia at the beginning of 1991, and the UK Music Master CD catalogue shows that this was reissued on Columbia under Sony's new numbering system, catalogue number 460602 2, in October 1991. Can't find any trace of this CD in MM, though. I see Discogs got this release date from THE GREAT ROCK DISCOGRAPHY, not sure how reliable that is.
