 Review
Bud Ashton in fact did not really exist. Embassy Records were sold exclusively through Woolworths. Woolworths was a department store that went bust a few years ago and is sadly missed. Embassy recording artists recorded the hit songs of the day following very closely on the heels of the original records. There were normally two A sides on Embassy records and they were sold a bit cheaper than the mainstream labels such as Columbia, Decca etc. The instrumentals were performed by the session musicians, and released under names such as Bud Ashton, etc. At the time of most of the tracks on this album, my elder brother and myself had guitars and used to play along with the records of The Shadows, Ventures, Outlaws, Fentones, Duane Eddy etc. We had all the singles and also used to buy Embassy records as well to play along with. They were Ok but most were not as well produced as the originals. Being left handed, I used to play "upside down" before stringing up "left handed" a few years later. This album brings back fond memories of that time and is well worth a listen now and then.
