compiled from maxine brown's recordings for nomar, produced by tony bruno, abc, usually accompanied by the roy glover orchestra & produced by mal williams (mostly credited as "malmax"), wand, produced by tony bruno once more, where not only were he and his wife, brenda, a successful song-writing partnership, but van mccoy, and valerie simpson, nicholas/nikolas ashford and joshie armstead were staff or stable successful writers, and track 17 was produced by otis redding at fame studio, muscle shoals... after she moved to epic/columbia/cbs, many tracks were left unissued and forgotten, even unlisted in the wand/scepter labels' tape vault, and memories fade with time, even before the principals depart - some stunning tracks' composers could not be identified when adrian crossdell compiled this album, dredging through all the tapes available from (and to) kent records uk/ace records from nestshare ltd.
mastered from digital tapes transferred from original analogue master tapes, post-production by duncan cowell at the digital editing suite. tracks 1, 2, 6, 7, 9, 10, 12, 14, 18, 20 & 28 stereo, else mono. insert booklet liner notes-cum-biblio by peter gibbon 1990.
