Magic Marmalade 3rd Jun 2017
| | All done.
Two entries merged, UK disc and surplus images hidden... For clarification, this is the U.S entry, in spite of the "Made In Japan" bit, so anyone with a non- "Made In Japan" U.S copy should add any of those (different images to this page.

Magic Marmalade 3rd Jun 2017
| | OK, had a little think about this one...
Going to keep this (earliest) entry as U.S, move all the "Japan" entry stuff to this, then delete that entry.
...keeping the U.K disc on this page for when that issue turns up. (I'll just hide it for now).
I'll do that a little later, to give y'all a chance to voice opinions on this solution. |

gregs45s SUBS 2nd Jun 2017
| | :) Needs merging really MM with kab2112's entry, and changing to International,so we can bung all the images together in one big International gooey mess;).The same Cat.No./label/barcode combination was used for the US release,as well as the UK/European one,so there will be at least three Discs, one made in Japan for the US,one made in the US,and one made in the UK.
Correct Cat.No. CDP 7 46195 2 |

Magic Marmalade 2nd Jun 2017
| | Hooray!
...What do I win?
rest assured that energy and zeal are quickly snuffed out Lee, so I thought that while I had some to burn, I would.
The thing that popped this into my head (Other than that nature abhors a vacuum), was my Kate Bush: Hounds of Love, and I think either my Bruce Springsteen: Tunnel Of Love or a Clapton one also has "Made In Japan" but is for UK issue.
If so, and those are anything to go by, there ought to be a version of this not made in Japan, but identical in all other respects, and that should appear on this page (or the other one whichever ought to be deleted), alongside it.
Will my stylus damage this CD if I play it on the turntable?
(How's that?) |

PhilMH 2nd Jun 2017
| | I just remembered that I have a made-In-Japan Capitol release by the Beach Boys: PET SOUNDS has main catalogue number CP21-6011 (Japanese catalogue numbers tend to be entirely different from the rest of the world), though with the international number CDP 7 48421 2 under that in smaller type on the disc itself, which also shows MFD. BY TOSHIBA-EMI LTD IN JAPAN (and it possibly says that on the booklet and back insert too, but I can't read Japanese); there's also a fold-over booklet with Japanese notes and English lyrics; also relevant is the Japanese rights society JASRAC on the disc, which wouldn't appear on discs intended for elsewhere. There's also no barcode on the package, which is fairly surprising for something released in 1990 (I assume the 90-7-27 on the back insert is the release date). |

| | Hi Magic, so it seems to have turned out to not be a stupid question at all and you even managed to hazard a guess of the correct answer. What a let down. You got my hopes up there for a moment and everything turned out to be simple and have a rational explanation. You need to work harder on your stupid questions this one was a fizzer. I'll be looking out for big improvements in this area Magic.
Oh, by the way I'd like to congratulate you on your recent Modhood but more to the point your energy and zeal for the task at hand. Keep up the good work. |

| | Yep, made in Japan for US release, pretty common at the time. An actual Japanese release would say something along the lines of "Manufactured and distributed by Toshiba-EMI". |

Magic Marmalade 1st Jun 2017
| | I'm going to ask a stupid question about this one (OK even stupider than usual)...
...In this particular case, are we sure this is an actual Japan release, or just made in Japan, but for external markets?
(I ask, because I see none of the usual tell tale Japan issue fetaures: No Japanese writing, the cat number looks American, no Obi, and the text: "Manufactured in Japan FOR Capitol records")
I see the other entry for this is a bit of a mess, probably because of this issue.
