This has been having another of it's periodic spells on my CD player just lately.... And it's another essential classic of the nineties, which just keeps on getting better every time it's played.
Others have done minimalist electronica, but I can't think of anyone who has done it as well as this.
I'm sure the creation of this record was much more involved than it sounds, but Ben Watt and Tracy Thorn's sparsely arranged tunes, which seem at times almost completely comprised of sound effects and random noises and the odd note or chord, do more than enough to carry, and be carried along by, Tracy's totally unique, and strangely soulful voice.
A dash of acoustic guitar for colouring here and there completes the mix, as the vid I linked for: The Heart Remains A Child shows.
If you're on a nineties adventure.... you must have this.
