| Juke Jules SUBS 22nd Mar 2018 | The quartet singers are well known in the region. At the rear is Dave Roberts (Lead), Tom Percy (Bass) is on the right, Chris Barnes (Tenor) is on the left, and Tony Riley (Bari) is in front. Tom Percy has since moved to Australia and is believed to be no longer singing Barbershop. Track 11 was recorded live at the Championship competition. This was a fitting choice for the competition piece, with luscious harmonies and a climactic ending which were very much 'of their time'. Since then, competition has moved to focus more on speed and dexterity, with more complex harmonies. The lyrics manage to include a reference to the opera "Pagliacci", as does "Give Me A Barbershop Song" by Roy Dorson. | |
