First CD in a 4-volume collection of Columbia and Epic hits from the 60's and 70's Digital producer Bob Irwin. 20 page booklet written by Mike Callahan. This original pressing went out of print, and the first 3 volumes were reissued in 2001 with new (better) covers.

mojofilter 31st Jan 2017		I have a reissue with different artwork, from 1998, on Sony Music Special Projects A 33677. This CD has some odd mixes that I don't have on any other album or compilation: a stereo remix of "Hot Fun In The Summertime" that's 25 seconds longer than the single; the version of "The Witch Queen Of New Orleans" by Redbone doesn't replicate the single at all. It starts with the eerie violin or theremin sound, then the song starts in stereo, and instead of the usual coda repeating the chorus, the band cuts off abruptly while the violin/theremin sound continues, along with a string section playing atonal, swooping glissandos. I don't know if this is the Redbone album version, never having heard it, but it's certainly strange. The CD does include the unedited LP version of "As The Years Go By" by Mashmakhan, which is a collectors' bonus!
