CD Album
Notes starting off as the scorpions (no recordings), progressing onto the spectres 8/62 (demo recording session spring '66 under the guidance of manager pat barlow, played by him to ronnie scott and recommended by him to john schroeder, producer at pye records, and boss of their then still fairly-new piccadilly subsidiary label), - instant fame, success, and riches beyond the dreams of avarice! - well no, not exactly. four flop singles, even with a name change to the traffic jam, and a clear year - and a shift over to the senior label, which was reabsorbing piccadilly, and a further change of name, this time to the status quo were required before "overnight success" called on their single, pictures of matchstick men. this double cd tracks their route to success, and what they made of it, through to the incipient blues-based boogie boom they created (and which eventually was to trap them in the wilderneyof radio2). but along the way to that blues-based boogie boneyard, the band tried all manner of likely and further reaches of unlikelier routes to return to the charts - listen to these tracks and wonder!
