 Call me cynical but the 'out of copyright' era for Peggy Lee seems to coincide with the period when she had 'superstar' status and was making a lot of formulaic records, but many of these tracks show her as good as she ever was. I don't suppose any of these were made with Benny Goodman, with whom she had honed her performance skills, but the arrangements clearly had some of the best session players of the day.

I'd love to hear the title track in full, but it's not on YouTube. However, click the 'Search on Amazon' link above and you can listen to a sample of every track, and Moon Flowers is one of the best. I've Got You Under My Skin is another such, and this video is the right version for this album

 Review
Now that Peggy Lee's early recordings are out of copyright there are umpteen compilation CDs. Some with artwork that would make you wince. This one thankfully has nice artwork, is well mastered and tells you where and when all the tracks are from. Overall a job well done but for including the abysmal 'Who's Gonna Pay The Check?' - surely one of her all time worst tracks….
