Another album that would make it onto any list of the best 90s albums.

(But is a source of great mystery and consternation too just lately)

It really follows on from Tricky and Portishead... and is one for fans of either of these. Admittedly her voice will divide opinion, but here I think it suits the music well.

...In the main, it'll be a great album for the wee small hours and, as one of the song titles suggests, when you're "Wasted Early Sunday Morning" (Whatever that could mean :), with that track, title track Becoming X, Waterbaby, and How Do, being particular favourites of mine in this regard (or was once upon a time)...

How do actually being a cover of Willow's Song, from The Wicker Man (original film), which Britt Ekland's character sings naked through the wall to a rather bothered Edward Woodward (Is it hot in here, or is it just me?) , and even has samples from the film itself.

Now the confusion and mystery:

This was originally issued in the "circuit board" cover you see here, but was almost immediately reissued with overdubs, rap parts and other stuff that people (including myself) do not like... in the blue cover with the Sneaker Pimps on the front.
But it has recently been reissued on vinyl in both covers: Direct Metal Master version in the Blue cover, and (I believe) a reissue of the circuit board cover with green vinyl, as per the original vinyl release.

People just don't know which version they are getting when they buy it anymore.

To add to the confusion, I remember when this came out, and two of my friends had a copy... one of each cover, but the music was identical (and I had another friend who downloaded it for me and burned it to disc -in the nineties! - it took all morning to download!!! :)

So the original album can be found in both covers, meaning that they only changed the artwork first, then altered the music and called it a reissue about a year later, and a ouple of decades on, they use both covers again, and nobody knows what version is which.

I'd opt for an original CD circuit board cover if you want one... until they sort it all out.

But another I want on Vinyl.
