RogerFoster 1st Jan 2016		Review This little curiousity was released by Goldmine after they had managed to establish themselves with a series of Soul Compilation CDs in the preceding two or three years, and was intended to promote them. I could be wrong but I'm fairly certain that it was being sold at a budget price of £3 or £4. All but Track #4 had been released on previous Goldmine releases. Tracks #1, #3 were included in GSCD 3 "The Essential Detroit Soul Selection". Track #2 was included in GSCD 11 "Jackie Lee - The Duck"". Tracks #5, #6 were included in GSCD 1 "The Essential Northern Soul Story". Tracks #7, #9 were included in GSCD 5 "The Essential Mellow Groove". Tracks #8, #11, #12 were included in GSCD 9 "Crossover Soul". Track #10 was included in GSCD 2 "The Essential Modern Soul Selection". Tracks #13, #14, #15 were included in GSCD 7 "The Sound Of Funk Volume One". Musically it is therefore surprisingly varied with 1960s and 1970s Soul-Dancers rubbing shoulders with Mellow Groovers and Hardcore Funk. 2 people found this review helpful. ✔︎ Helpful Review?
