RogerFoster 1st Jan 2016		Review "Modern Soul 2" seems a confusing name for this compilation unless it is realised that "Volume One" in this instance would be GSCD 2 "The Essential Modern Soul Collection". "Modern Soul", for those unfamiliar with the term, tends to be code for "Danceable Soul Records recorded after 1970" (or after 1971 at a pinch) with the emphasis being on the mid/late '70s and early 1980s, but without anything veering too much towards Heavy Funk or Disco. So what we have here is a collection of mellow and/or rippling obscurities from exactly that mid '70s to mid '80s period and pride of place to my ears would have to go to Cynthia Sheeler's groovy little goody at Track #11 ..... 2 people found this review helpful. ✔︎ Helpful Review?
