Selena is the self-titled debut studio album by American Tejano singer Selena, released on October 16, 1989 by EMI Latin. The album was released after EMI Latin president Jose Behar's request for a crossover album was denied by the heads of EMI Records' pop division. Selena peaked at number seven on the U.S. Billboard Regional Mexican Albums chart. The singles of the album were "Contigo Quiero Estar", "Mentiras" y "Sukiyaki".
