Every August, thousands of people flock to Chicago's Cricket Hill for the FreeFest, a three day celebration of love, peace and noise. Over thirty bands and countless singer/songwriters donate their time and talents to perform for the city, asking only for some ears in return. All styles of rock music are represented at this annual event, from pop to death metal. It is this diversity that makes the FreeFest truly the greatest party in the park. This compilation represents just a mere sampling of the great talent scheduled to perform the 1993 FreeFest

Persistent Productions is dedicated to supporting local talent. In addition to sponsoring the FreeFest, other Persistent activities include The FreeFest Monthly, a free, monthly culture and entertainment periodical, OOgla-Pa-LOOgla concert series and the fall Leonard's Gizzards Funshine Tour...both concert series featuring local acts.

Happy Tails Records is a Chicago-based co-op indie label that strives to create a network of pooled band resources and to foster an overall scene environment of cooperation. The bands and individuals that make up the Happy Tails family are committed to the do-it-yourself ethic as a means for promoting not only their talents but the entire Chicago area music community and culture as a whole
