This is a hugely enjoyable collection of (mostly) early 1990s "Acid Jazz" material, on the label that gave its name to the genre (or was it the other way around?). The one exception being SouthShore Commission's 1975 Scepter recording "Free Man", with the mix on here being the Tom Moulton Disco Remix, not that there is any mention of that in the rather sparse liner notes.

Favourite tracks for me would be the aforementioned SouthShore Commission tune, Ashley & Jackson's latter-day attempt to create a 1970's "Blaxploitation" film theme, and "Be Someone", which I can't find on you-tube, but given the way they spelt their name that is hardly a surprise ....
