The US Copyright Office has registrations for several tunes (previously unissued?) on this collection, each one showing the publication date of the set as 24 October 1995, so if they have it, it must have been issued. CD Universe has an image of the cover - I don't think I've seen this before.
First appearance of this title in US Schwann catalogue was the Fall 1996 edition, showing release date as October 1995, and catalogue number CHD2-9357. ICE Newsletters for September and October 1995 give US release date as October 24, along with Muddy Waters' WOODSTOCK ALBUM, Howlin' Wolf's THE BACK DOOR WOLF, and Dale Hawkins' O' SUZIE Q: BEST OF.
Hi Tom, Europe and International for this, as this number was also released in Australia on 9th July 1997, distributed by BMG, who had the international rights to MCA and Chess until 1998. I have one or two others in this series with BMG mentioned as distributor, this copy looks like a UMG repress; curiously, it seems to have both Universal and PolyGram distribution codes for France!
I think this is a European package. Unlike volumes 1 and 2 of the series (Muddy Waters and Howlin' Wolf) this does not have a jewel case- fold out cardboard package with booklet enclosed. Also first two volumes came out in 1994; this shows a date of 1997.
Looks like US Chess was using the CHD prefix through at least 1999. This has MCD,
